It's your big decision - find out more

With the provincial election less than a month away, time is running out to learn about the referendum question Ontarians will be answering as they mark their ballots.

Barb Baguley is the Referendum Resource Officer for Elections Ontario in the electoral district of York-Simcoe, and she is currently booking short information sessions with local community groups, service clubs, municipal councils, schools, employee groups and other interested organizations wanting more information on Ontario's referendum.

"This is an historic event," Baguley says "We have not had a referendum in Ontario since 1924."

"Ontario voters will be making a decision about whether or not we will change the way we elect future governments. This is your chance to have your voice heard. It's not often that a referendum occurs and when it does it's because the opinion of the public is important."

The question will ask voters to choose between the current "First Past the Post" and "Mixed Member Proportional" electoral systems.

Baguley's presentations are non-partisan and last about 15 minutes, followed by a question period.
