Mississauga man faces numerous charges

Essa - A Mississauga man faces multiple charges after a pair of arrests.

On Sunday, Sept. 2, the OPP Traffic Unit stopped a vehicle on Cty. Rd. 90 as the Officer observed that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver upon demand failed to surrender his driver's licence, vehicle permits or insurance.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was not insured, the vehicle was not properly registered, had improper plates and was in unsafe condition. Karl Bailey, 23 of Mississauga, was charged with drive under suspension, operate unsafe vehicle, fail to apply for permit upon becoming owner of vehicle, use plates not authorized for motor vehicle, driver fail to wear seat belt and operate motor vehicle without insurance.

Bailey will appear in Bradford court a couple at a later date.

A couple of days later, \OPP while operating radar on County Rd. 10 in Essa stopped a vehicle travelling at 108 kph in an 80 zone. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver was seen to jump from the driver's seat into the back seat and attempt to hide.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen earlier in Kettle and Stoney detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service area.

Subsequent to the arrest, the vehicle was searched and a quantity of cocaine weighing 28 grams valued at $3,000 was located and seized.

Both the driver and his female passenger were arrested.

The female party was placed in the rear of the Police vehicle at which time she became physically unruly kicking at the window, eventually breaking the window frame.

Charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of cocaine for the purpose is Bailey and 30-year-old Collen Herman of London, Ontario. Herman was charged with mischief to the Police vehicle.

Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Barrie.

Angus B&E

Essa - OPP are investigating a break and enter into a dwelling on Sydenham St. in Angus.

Entry into the home is believed to have occurred between Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sept. 3.

Once inside, persons unknown removed a quantity of electronic equipment, liquor and jewellery.

The suspects are believed to have left by the back door.

B&E New Tecumseth

New Tecumseth- OPP are investigating a break and enter at a home on the 2nd Line.

Between noon Aug. 28th and Sept. 3, entry was gained into the dwelling by breaking the glass in the front door.

A quantity of electronic equipment and money was taken.

Angus man arrested

Essa Twp. - early on Aug. 26th, OPP attended an address on Lookout St. in Angus regarding a domestic dispute.

Investigation revealed that earlier, the victim, a 25- year-old female. arrived at home from a night out with friends. She found herself locked out of the house. A short time later, the now accused opened the door allowing the victim in. While inside, the accused man spit on the victim, pushed heer down the stairs and eventually held her down preventing her from leaving.

Charged is a 32 year-old Angus man with two counts of assault and forcible confinement. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
