Essa residents thanked for cooperation
By Richard Blanchard

Essa township fire chief Paul Macdonald expressed his thanks last week to township residents for adhering to the bans on open fires during the past summer.

Macdonald told council that the township fire department could have had a lot more problems with fires during the summer if residents hadn't acted responsibly.

"People co-operated very well. We had some incidents with some small burns but people bore down and did not light many outdoor fires," he said.

"We got through very well. It is a tribute to the residents," he said.
