New library in Angus
New library in Angus

is expected that the new Angus Branch will be opened in 2009. The Board's vision for the new building is that it will be a community gathering place, a safe haven for children and adults, and a contributor to lifelong learning, literacy, and employment skills for Essa residents. Plans include a Conference Centre, a Learning Centre/Computer Lab, a Community Archives and Local History Room, a Family Room, Project and Tutorial Rooms, and expanded collection areas for seniors, young adults and junior readers with comfortable seating and study carrels.

The Angus Building Committee members are ABC Chair Dominic Sasco, Board Chair Derek McKeever, Library CEO Janine Harris-Wheatley, Deputy Mayor Terry Dowdall, and Angus Councillor Sandie Macdonald, who is also chairing the Fund Raising Committee. Councillor Macdonald looks forward to working with the community to make this dream come true.
