NDP to re-list health services for working families Nancy Morrison, NDP Candidate for York Simcoe says the NDP's plan to relist health services will make life more affordable for working families. "By de-listing physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and eye exams, Dalton McGuinty is charging working families more health care - but delivering less," said Nancy Morrison. "The NDP will give families a fair deal by putting these services back into the public health care system where they belong." Arguing that de-listing is a form of privatization, Morrison said the NDP would end the practice which forces patients to pay out-of-pocket for muchneeded health care services that help prevent further illness and help manage chronic disease. "While Dalton McGuinty could find the money for expensive privatization experiments and a $40,000 salary increase for himself, he de-listed services that save the health system a significant amount of money with early detection and prevention," said Morrison. The NDP would invest $100 million to re-list physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and eye exams. They would also invest $230 million a year to expand and improve home care within the public health care system and $400 million for front-line health care professionals like nurses, doctors and others. "Physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and eye exams can add up for the average family but they aren't luxury items. They improve health and prevent further illness. New Democrats will make sure that working families aren't denied these services just because they can't pay for them," said Nancy Morrison. |
