THORNTON NEWS If you forget to set out your donation for the food bank last Sunday morning for collection by the Trinity United Church Sunday School, you can still make a donation. Just drop your donation off at the church this coming Sunday morning between 9:30 and 10:30. For those who did remember, thank you, your support is appreciated. Smile Cookies are back! They are the double sized chocolate chip cookies fresh baked at Tim Hortons for a limited time only. This year, the Thornton Tim's has decided that the proceeds from their sales of Smile Cookies will benefit the Essa Public Library, Thornton Branch. Each cookie sells for $1 and they will be only available for one week from October 1 to 7. The library staff are pleased that the proceeds will be coming to them and plan for the funds to go towards chairs, folding tables and a white board. So don't forget to stop by Tim's next week and enjoy a Smile Cookie or two and support our local library at the same time. Registration has begun for the next session of Storytime at the library which begins on Monday, Oct. 1 or Tuesday, Oct. 2 and continues for three more weeks. Visit the library to register your preschoolers for just $2 per child for the 4 week session. Also CAP is returning to the library. The Community Access Program offers free computer training with one-to-one training. To register for either program call 458-2549. The Thornton Library needs at least 25 people to help them with their part in an attempt to make history with along with the rest of Ontario. On Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 12:30 p.m. sharp, a 1 km walk will be held. This will be part of a Guiness World Record attempt to make history along with the rest of Ontario by breaking the record for the largest number of people walking 1 km at the same time. To preregister or for more information call the library at 458-2549. Just a thought, perhaps the group could walk to Tim's and buy some Smile Cookies, support two library causes at once….
