Cookstown resident locked out of driveway Ask Innisfil council and you shall receive. Cookstown resident Matt Jebb came out to the Sept. 19 council meeting asking the town to help him build a proper entrance to his driveway. Instead of the usual sloped entrance, his property offers only a curb. "Why would the previous owner build a garage without a driveway?" wondered Jebb while addressing council, adding that he would be willing to contribute $2,500 of his own savings to the estimated $10,000 construction costs. Innisfil Road Service Manager Wayne Young concluded in his report to council that the existing driveway entrance had been in place for over 20 years and was no longer the responsibility of the town, but the homeowner. He also indicated that the new homeowner wasn't interested in sharing the cost. Despite the recommendation to deny any funding for the curb cutting and sidewalk reconstruction, council appreciated Jebb's offer to contribute his own money and sent his request back to staff to explore a costsharing arrangement. |
