South Simcoe Police news

Impaired Driving

On Sunday, Sept. 23, a South Simcoe Police officer was on general patrol around 7:15 p.m. when he observed a vehicle heading straight for him on Kell St. in Innisfil. The officer pulled to the right and the vehicle drove by him. The officer stopped the vehicle a short distance away and arrested the driver for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle. He was brought back to the South Simcoe Police Station where he blew 3 times over the legal limit. A 67 year old Innisfil man was charged accordingly and has a court date in October.

Assault/Utter Threats

On Sunday, Sept. 23, at approx. 3 p.m the South Simcoe police attended to a disturbance call outside the Bedrock Bar and Grill in Alcona. When police arrived they observed numerous people in a heated discussion. It was learned that a male and female were having an argument over money owed. The male threatened and assaulted the female. The victims father came to her aid just before police arrived. A 20 year old Innisfil man was arrested for uttering threats and assaulting the 21 year old victim. The accused was held for a bail hearing on Monday.

Mischief Over $5000

SSP are investigating extensive vandalism to construction equipment which occurred overnight Sunday Sept. 23/24 at MiTech Industries located on Industrial Road, Bradford. Bulldozers, excavators and other contruction equipment had their cabs smashed, electronics ripped out and painted with paint balls. Damage is estimated to be approximately $25,000.
