Innisfil hits high water mark
By Bruce Haire

The latest Ministry of Environment Drinking Water System Inspection Report once again gives the Innisfil system high marks.

The Alcona Water Treatment Plant draws its raw water from about 1,000 feet off-shore and provides water service for about 12,500 residents.

The system was chosen this year for a "focussed inspection during this inspection cycle because inspection findings over the past three years were such that the number of violations were minimal or non existent, there were so few or no orders issued to you," according to the report.

About the only thing the "focussed" inspection found wrong were some small deficiencies in the operations manual.

After all the new equipment at the Alcona plant have been installed, the manual will be revised. There also has to be some small changes in microbiological monitoring.

In summary, several changes were suggested in the operation, including the implementation of several best practices.
