Students run for Terry Fox
By Wendy Soloduik

Photos By Wendy Soloduik Students at Alcona Glen Elementary School participate in the annual Terry Fox run last week.
The student body of Alcona Glen Elementary School participated in a fundraiser run/walk in memory of Terry Fox last Thursday.

Approximate 686 students took part in the eighth annual event, that has raised more than $30,000 for cancer research.

The event was organized by teacher, Marlise Amadio, who promised the students that for every $1,000 raised, one teacher would shave their head.

The goal this year was $5,000, and five brave teachers, both men and women, bravely volunteered their hairdos.

Although pledge money is still coming in, it is certain that at least one, if not all of the teachers can count on a reduction of their shampoo bill over the winter months (check back with The Scope for pictures, coming soon).

Way to go Alcona Glen!
