"We're very proud of what the Town has done," stated Innisfil Accessibility Advisory Committee Chair Margaretta Papp-Belayneh.
In presenting the Annual Accessibility Plan to Innisfil Council on Wednesday night, it was fitting that it was in large print for the visually impaired.
Among the items to be carried out in the 2007-8 plan is the Town's first Audible Pedestrian Signal at the lights of Highway 89 and County Rd. 27 in Cookstown.
Other accomplishments included the Paint the Town Yellow campaign which includes painting curbsides. This year the effort was in Belle Ewart where curbs and the town dock was painted with the yellow outline.
The first wheelchair obstacle course was held with several Innisfil councillors and staff involved at the Alcona Scotiabank.
The Resident Emergency Assistance Program was also started.
Audits were done on several public buildings and private businesses. The worst was the Cookstown Library, which is completely inaccessible and will be replaced.
