Local women's group meets to discuss voting

The meeting of the Women's Institute was held at the Tec West Gwillimbury Hall in Newton Robinson on Monday, September 24. 2007.

A delicious lunch, served by Joan Jebb's group opened the first meeting of the season. Donna Jebb had invited Barb Baguley from Elections Ontario, to clarify and explain what is involved in the Referendum vote, so one could make an informed vote this coming election.

The Roll Call was answered by 27 members and seven guests.

"Did your farming family operate a wood lot? This led into the introduction of guest speaker Doug Drysdale, who gave a most infornative and enjoyable talk on forestry across Canada, its problems with management and its importance to the economy of Canada.

A business meeting followed which included several projects for the Fall, including an evening of desserts on Friday, Nov. 16, at which the draw will be held for the Tec We Gwill Women's Institute quilt. Tickets are available for the quilt from every WOmen's Institue member.
