Winterhawks off to great start The Hawks came out flying with the stars last Monday night in Richmond Hill. The team was coming off a tight 2 - 1 win at home over the visiting Newmarket Redman. Sammy Couch hammered one by the tender to open the scoring at 1:43 of the opening period. Matthew McDonald then followed with one of his own. On a pass from Cole Harrison, Ty Steel tucked another one by the Stars netminder. The first period scoring was rounded out by Owen Heilemann from Garren Kilpatrick with 2:44 remaining on the clock. Heilemann and Couch returned to their scoring ways in the second, each with a pair of hard earned goals. Nick Stella and KJ Schulz continued to work the boards hard, applying pressure and forcing turnovers on the Stars wingers. Cole Harrison jumped on a rebound in front of the stars net to add one to the Hawks tally. Ben Ferguson would end the scoring in the second at 8:30 with a hard working solo effort. The third period would see the Stars apply the pressure to try and break goalie, Owen Chalmers shut out bid. With only 1:54 remaining in the game Steel would become the third player to burry two on the night. The Winterhawks played some solid defense led by Conner Magee, William McIntyre and Matthew Lacasse. Chalmers would go on to chalk up his first shut out of the season. A well deserved win with a great team effort. Keep up the hard work boys. Final - Innisfil Winterhawks 9 Richmond Hill Stars 0. |
