Police still investigating Highway 400 crash

Witnesses still needed for Highway 400 crash

(Bradford West Gwillimbury.) - The OPP Highway Safety Division's Barrie detachment continues to investigate a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 just north of Hwy. 88. in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

On Monday October 8, 2007 at approximately 3:40 p.m., a GMC Jimmy driven by Innisfil resident Carolyn Mastromatteo was travelling southbound on Hwy. 400.

It making numerous unsafe lane changes, cutting vehicles off and following other vehicles closely.

The vehicle went out of control and rolled numerous times across all three lanes. It went over the steel guardrail into a ditch.

The 42-year-old driver was transported to Royal Victorian Hospital in Barrie with minor injuries. The 37- year-old passenger, also from Innisfil, was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with life threatening injuries.

Mastromatteo has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm and criminal negligence and was held for a bail hearing.

The Investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
