Alleged abusive husband arrested, officer assaulted and Volkswagen jets

Abusive husband reported

Police have charged a 43- year-old Innisfil man, after his wife claimed to suffer years of abuse.

An investigation revealed several incidents took place over the last several years. The victim says she sustained various injuries and was continually being threatened by her husband. The husband intimidated the woman, which prevented her from leaving the relationship or going to the police.

The man was charged with two counts of criminal harassment, two counts of uttering death threats, assault with a weapon, and three counts of aggravated assault. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Impaired driver busted

A 32-year-old Newmarket man was charged with impaired driving in Bradford Thursday.

Police received several complaints about a northbound vehicle travelling along Highway 11 between Newmarket and Bradford. The vehicle was pulled over, and the man was charged with impaired driving, and driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He will appear in Bradford court in November.

Man breaches probation

Police charged a 38-yearold Bradford man, after he allegedly breached conditions from a prior arrest earlier this month.

The man had been released on an earlier domestic related incident with non-communication conditions.

Police received information that the accused male had breached those conditions on Oct. 5. The man was held for a bail hearing.

Volkswagen taken

Police are investigating the theft of a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta from the commuter lot at the Highway 88 and 400 overpass.

The owner says the vehicle was parked at the commuter lot early on Oct. 10, but found the vehicle was missing upon her return late in the afternoon.

Domestic incident lands one in jail

A 55-year-old Innisfil man was arrested after an alleged domestic incident last month. On Oct. 10, a 42-year-old woman reported she had been assaulted by her common-law husband in late September.

The man was charged with domestic assault and released on conditions not to associate with victim.

Woman jets from collision scene

A 28-year-old woman allegedly abandoned her car, following a collision in Bradford Oct. 12.

An eastbound blue Oldsmobile struck a stop sign and guard rail at the intersection of Walker Avenue and the 6th Concession in the Town Friday afternoon. The damaged vehicle fled the scene, but officers were able to locate it in a nearby subdivision.

Police have charged the registered owner of the Oldsmobile with fail to report an accident.

Officer assaulted by Innisfil man

On Saturday, police were called to an Innisfil residence by a man who was unable to control his sons.

Police arrived and were confronted by a 16-year-old man, who was verbally abusive to the officers and his father.

The man refused to leave after his father kicked him out of the residence. He assaulted an officer who was trying to remove him.

A struggle ensued and the man was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and breach of recognizance. He will appear in youth court in November.
