An evening with Judy McCoubrey
By Susan Stein

A Benefit Concert for the Tec -We -Gwill Hall in Newton Robinson featured singer Judy McCoubrey.

Not only was it a monetary benefit for the hall, but also a musical one for the full house.

Judy McCobrey's versatilty as a singer was evident in the different segments in her program; country songs by Patsy Cline, pop and a Connie Francis segment. She also did a Barbra Streisand, segment singing many of her songs. The songs, most of them so familiar with the audience included You Light up my Life, Sweet Dreams, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, If I could see the World through the Eyes of a Child, Hopelessly Devoted to You, I Only Want to be with You, Don't Break the Heart that Loves You, Second Hand Rose, and for the finale, You'll Never Walk Alone.

With each segment, Judy not only gave these songs the special intonation, but also acted out the meanings. The conclusiion - it was an evening of sheer entertainment, of appreciaton for such a talent. Valerie Wauchope with her piano solo "I Love a Piano", paid tribute to the new piano the hall board bought. Thank you hall board for looking after that lovely, historic Tec We Gwill Hall.
