Gingerbread house competition to top Artisans Christmas cake

The Simcoe County Museum is pleased to announce a partnership with Christmas Cheer and Zehrs Markets, Bayfield to add a unique activity to the Artisans Museum Christmas being held Nov. 10 and 11 in Midhurst.

A Decorated Gingerbread House Competition will take place during the event to raise funds for Christmas Cheer. Everyone is invited to participate in this wonderful activity. Upon registration, participants in the amateur categories will receive an assembled house (homemade gingerbread will be used), icing, a starter set of decorations a gingerbread decorating class at Zehrs. Professional bakers and students will be asked to use a gingerbread recipe of their choice to help them create their entire masterpiece from scratch.

The competition will include five categories; professional bakers, media, amateur adults, students and children. Entry fees for the contest will be donated to Christmas Cheer, as will all proceeds from the Viewers' Choice voting ballots and gingerbread raffle. The finished houses will be on display at the museum during the Artisans Christmas event, with the awards ceremony on Nov. 11 at 3:00 p.m. Media and professional contestants have donated their work, and all proceeds from the raffle of these houses will be donated to Christmas Cheer.
