Cinderella trying on Cookstown theatre's magic glass slipper The Onstage Performance Group, which had staged several productions in Barrie at the Park Place Theatre, has moved its latest production of Cinderella to the South Simcoe Theatre in Cookstown, to take advantage of the larger space and ambiance of the 100- year-old historical building. "Cinderella is a great family play," says Marianne Strasser, the show's producer. "It's a time for grandparents and grandchildren and everyone in between to visit the historic theatre in Cookstown and have a rollicking good time with our cast and the traditional story of romance and magic." The production features a cast of 40 players of all ages, with music and choreography created by the director of the show, Michelle Devlin and her 13- year-old daughter Emily. So, does Cinderella get the Prince in this version of the story? "Well, she can have him if she wants him," says Strasser. "But remember, the tag line of our production is 'Romance is back!' There's something in this show for everyone. Adults will get a real chuckle out it, and of course the kids will just love the magic of it." Cinderella will open at the theatre Wednesday December 12 and will close on Sunday December 16. There will be six performances, including two matinées. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. For more information, call 735-0697 or 431-2635. |
