Canada Post expanding in Stroud

Photo by Chris Simon The Stroud branch of Canada Post will be under construction for the next few months.
Approval of plans for a major expansion of postal operations in Innisfil was announced today in London.

In late January or early February, the 14 rural and suburban mail service carriers located at 7975 Yonge Street will relocate to rented premises at 8056 Yonge Street, approximately one block north. The 613 square metre (6,600 square foot) facility will provide an enhanced work environment for employees and accommodate anticipated growth in Innisfil for approximately 10 years.

Canada Post will retain the 7975 Yonge Street facility for retail purposes and the nearly 900 customers who have a postal box at this facility. The retail counter and postal box area will be upgraded to meet the current image standards of Canada Post.

"We've been operating in crowded quarters for some time," says postmaster Betty Jean Collins. "We're very pleased with the expansion plans and I know our customers will be happy to see upgrades to the retail counter area."

These upgrades are to be completed by late January or early February.

Staff at the Innisfil office includes four full-time and three part-time inside employees, including the postmaster, and 14 rural and suburban mail carriers who begin their day at the building before heading out on their delivery routes.
