Royal Winter Fair brings success for several local 4-H members recently

Taking part in the 2007 Royal Winter Fair of 2007 were the following 4-H Club members: Morgan Baker, Katrina Curruthers, Emily Den Haan, Matthew Keefer, Ashley O'Hara, Devin O'Hara, Nathan Schwartz, Jeff Stephenson - Herdspeson and Brooke Varcoa.

Marianne DenHaan sang The Queen on Sunday and handed out ribbons at Monday's closing ceremony.

Showmanship: Devin O'Hara placed third in intermediate, out of 156 4-H kids. Junior calf confirmation Morgan Baker was 19 out of 28.

Intermediate Emily Den Haan was 24th out of 84. In the senior calf division, Ashley O'Hara finished 23rd out of 102. In the summer yearling category, Katrina Curruthers finished 23rd out of 102 and Nathan Schwartz finished in eight spot. The kids were in the C Group for Best Exhibit.

Only one went from Simcoe County for the Queen's Guinnes competition.

Confirmation: Jason Gilpin finished seventh while Jason Gilpin finished 10th in showmanship junior class.

Field Crops: Beans white or coloured: Caitlin Harvey finished third, Max McClain finished fifth

Caitlin Harvey particpated in the Hay (first cut) competition.

On Thursday at the Holstein, Shaw Katrina Curruthers placed second.

4-H Heifer; Nathan Schwartz' calf placed 9th.

All had a good time and enjoyed the experience. Many thanks to Dorothy Lange for this informtion and the great job she is doing with the 4-H clubs.
