Barn break-in, vehicles stolen and marijuana found

Vehicle theft reported

South Simcoe Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from a business in the Alcona area.

The vehicle, a blue 2005 Chrysler, had been parked overnight. When the owner returned in the morning, the vehicle was gone.

Impaired driver found

On Friday November 9, police received a report of a possible impaired driver northbound on County Road 4 entering Innisfil.

Police located the vehicle near the County Road 4 and Innisfil Beach Road intersection. The vehicle was stopped by police and it was determined that the driver was impaired.

The driver was arrested and transported to the police station where he provided samples of his breath. Police have charged a 33-year-old Barrie man with impaired care and control and over 80 milligrams.

Two teens found with marijuana

Police investigated two occupants in a suspicious vehicle parked on Gardiner Drive in Bradford Friday night. A small quantity of marihuana was observed within the vehicle. Police have charged a 17-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from Bradford, with possession of a controlled substance. Both males were released on an appearance notice.

Barn break-in reported

Police are investigating a break-in at a barn sometime overnight between Nov. 10 and 11.

Upon examination of the barn, located on Canal Road in Bradford, the owner determined a generator had been stolen. Anyone with information regarding this occurrence is asked to call police at 905-775-3311, Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip at www.1800222tips.com.

Man injured in ATV crash

A 34-year-old Bradford man suffered non-life threatening injuries to his face when the ATV he was operating hit a pole on Saint Avenue in Bradford Sunday.

He was ejected from the ATV upon impact. The injured man was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to Southlake Regional Hospital in Newmarket for treatment. Police are continuing to investigate this accident.

Man arrested for impaired driving

Police received information of a vehicle being driven erratically along Concession Road 10 in Bradford Saturday. Police located the vehicle on Sideroad 5 near Concession Road 9, and upon stopping the vehicle, police determined that the driver was impaired.

The driver was arrested and transported to the police station where he provided samples of his breath. The samples were over two times the legal limit. A 23- year-old Alliston man has been charged with impaired care and control and over 80 milligrams.

Controlled substance charges laid

Police have charged two Innisfil youths with possession of a controlled substance following an incident at Nantyr Shores Secondary School Thursday morning.

Staff members located the two students smoking marijuana in the parking lot. Police were called and the two teens were arrested and charged. They will both be appearing in Barrie youth court Dec. 18.

Assault at Alcona business

A 20-year old Innisfil women with assault following an altercation which occurred at an Alcona business on Nov. 8.

Police report that the woman became involved in an argument with another woman inside the store. The argument escalated and the women punched the victim in the face. The suspect fled the store, but surrendered herself to police a short time later. She will be appearing in Bradford court on Dec. 13.

Auto thief arrested

A 33-year old Newmarket woman has been charged with impaired driving and take auto without consent after she was stopped by a police officer on Holland Street West in Bradford Thursday night.

The woman displayed signs of impairment and was taken to the south division station, where she was examined by a Ddrug recognition expert from the York Regional Police. The officer confirmed that she was under the influence of drugs. An investigation also revealed that she had taken the vehicle she was operating from a friend without consent. She will be appearing in Bradford court on Dec. 6.

Slippery roads cause several vehicle collisions

The first snowfall of the season caught many local drivers by surprise early Wednesday morning.

Police officers investigated 18 motor vehicle collisions during a six hour time period, starting at 4:30 a.m. and ending at 10:30. Most of the collisions were single motor vehicles which lost control on snow covered roads and entered the ditch. Several rolled over, but fortunately none resulted in serious injuries.

Now that winter conditions are upon us, drivers are reminded to slow down. Even on a clear day, roads can unexpectedly be snow-covered and icy in an area. Give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination, keep vehicles clear of snow and ice and avoid driving during snowstorms whenever possible.

Domestic incident leads to arrest

Police have charged 48- year-old Bradford woman with assault, following a domestic occurrence at a Bradford home on Wednesday evening.

An investigation revealed that the women became involved in an argument with her husband. The argument escalated and the woman punched her husband.

Police were called and the woman was arrested. She was later released on a recognizance to appear in Bradford court on Nov. 22.

Theft under investigation

Police are investigating the theft of a black 2003 Ford F-250 diesel pick-up truck from the commuter lot at the Highway 89 and 400 overpass.

The vehicle was stolen from the parking lot sometime during the day on Nov. 6. Anyone with information on this theft is asked to call police at 436- 2141, or they can leave an anonymous tip at www.1800222tips.com.
