Honda supports United Way of Greater Simcoe County

Honda of Canada, on behalf of its associates, has provided a $50,000 gift in support of United Way of Greater Simcoe County's 2007 campaign. This year's aggressive campaign goal of $1.36 million moves to strengthen the local social service network in Simcoe County.

"We are gratified to accept such a generous donation," said Seija Suutari, executive director for United Way's county branch. "Honda has contributed to our campaign for 15 years, and continues to demonstrate itself as a compassionate and caring leader of the way. Our annual campaign would not be the success it continues to be without the support we receive from local businesses in our community. We are very appreciative of Honda's partnership."

In 2006, funds raised from the local United Way campaign touched the lives of over 150, 000 people in our community, including hundreds of men and women suffering from mental illness and addictions, the David Busby Street Centre, homeless women and men with intellectual disabilities who received housing support through Simcoe Community Services, and individuals, families and communities impacted by disasters who receive assistance with the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter through the Canadian Red Cross Society.

Patients requiring palliative care and families needing bereavement support from their loss of loved to ones to cancer or other terminal illness also received funding through Hospice Simcoe.

Campaign contributions provide support to over 40 local programs and services, and touch the lives of one in three people in Simcoe County through 22 agencies.
