Break-ins, collisions and vandalism reported Couple has little in common On Sunday November 18, South Simcoe Police attended a residence on Scanlon Avenue in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury regarding a domestic dispute. The common law husband had been verbally abusive towards his wife for several hours. The argument escalated to a point where the common law husband spit at his wife, and threatened to cause her bodily harm. The wife had enough of the ongoing abuse and called police. A 42-year-old Bradford man has been charged with assault and uttering threats. He was held in custody for a bail hearing Nov. 19. Man avoid stop sign, but not police Police received information suspended driver left a residence in Gilford and was driving a motor vehicle Nov. 18. Police located the vehicle in the area of Gilford Road and the 20th Sideroad in Innisfil. The driver, a 24-year-old Innisfil man, saw the police car and took evasive action, disobeying a stop sign, and failing to stop for the police. Police chose not to pursue the driver, since they already identified him. The man was located shortly afterwards and was arrested. He has been charged with operate motor vehicle while disqualified. He was later released from custody. Fail to appear lands man in jail Police travelled to Markdale, Ontario where a man wanted on a bench warrant was arrested Nov. 18. The man had failed to appear in court in 2005, on a controlled drug and substances act charge. A court bench warrant was issued. The 44-year-old Etobicoke man is was held in custody pending a bail hearing Nov. 19. Break and enter reported Police are investigating a break and enter at a residence on Colborne Street in Bradford West Gwillimbury Nov. 17, sometime between 6 and 9:15 p.m. Entry was gained by prying open a basement door. Once inside the unknown suspect removed a quantity of electronic equipment including two Magnavox DVD players, a Mini-Playstation, a Nintendo Game Cube, and a large quantity of jewelry. One of the items taken is an antique cross attached to a broken chain which has considerable sentimental value to the victim. It is believed the property taken was placed into a "Redman" hockey bag which was also reported missing. Woman arrested after alleged domestic assault Police attended a residence on Miller Park Ave in Bradford West Gwillimbury regarding a domestic disturbance early Sunday morning. A mother and father were involved in an argument and at one point the mother grabbed a kitchen knife making threatening gestures toward the victim. Police were called by another relative living in the residence, and the victim did not suffer any serious injury during the incident. A 42-year-old Bradford woman was arrested and is expected to be charged with assault and assault with a weapon. Driver injured in collision Police responded to a personal injury motor vehicle collision which occurred on Bridge Street in Bradford on Friday afternoon. An 81-year-old Newmarket man was travelling westbound into Bradford at about 3:30 p.m. and failed to notice that traffic ahead of him had stopped. The man rearended a second motor vehicle which had stopped in traffic, causing minor injuries to the driver of the second car. The man has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. Alleged drunk driver caught A 47-year-old Wasaga Beach man has been charged with driving over 80 milligrams after he was stopped on Holland Street West in Bradford on Friday evening. Police report that the man was pulled over at about 10:45 p.m. The officer detected alcohol on his breath and required him to provide a sample of his breath into a roadside instrument. The driver complied with the request and failed. He was arrested and transported back to the South Division station, where a breathalyzer test revealed that he was more than double the legal limit of .08 milligrams. His licence was immediately suspended for 90-days and he will be appearing in Bradford court Dec. 13. Alcona business vandalized A 16-year-old woman was charged with mischief under $5,000 after a business on Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona was vandalized. Police report that two teens attended the business at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, and wrote graffiti on the business windows. The incident was caught on a security camera at a nearby store. The next day, the owner of the store discovered the damage and called police. Police viewed the security tape and identified the two persons responsible. One of the suspects was arrested by police later in the day. She was released on a promise to appear in Barrie youth court in December. The second suspect is still outstanding, however police expect to make an arrest shortly. Twelve-year-old charged with assault A 12-year-old Innisfil youth has been charged with two counts of assault, following an altercation at Cookstown Central Public School Nov. 11. Police report that the youth became involved in an altercation with another student, at which time the victim was kicked and slapped. The victim is currently undergoing medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident. The accused will appear in Barrie youth court in December. | |||||
