Agriculture's elite award 4-H members
By Susan Stein

Several members of the 4-H club received awards during a banquet last week.
Asked by Dorothy Lange, I had the pleasure to attend the annual awards and trophies presentation, held at Cookstown United Church hall on Saturday November 17.

Chairperson for the event was Katelyn Rose. After the 4-H grace was said by Heather Bell, a great roast beef dinner, prepared by members of the Cookstown Agricultural Society, was enjoyed and thanked for by Heather Rose.

Bev Nix, president of the Cookstown Agricultural Society, expressed her thanks for the work and dedication of the Leaders and 4-H club members for their contribution to the society, but also talked about the changes facing agriculture. A lot depends on the education of future farmers. She would like to see some 4-H members to be on the Cookstown Agricultural Board to voice their opinion and recommendations.

Amanda Johnson thanked the society for their help and Hope Bell the 4-H Leaders. Michaela Chalmers thanked the parents for their support.

Reports were given by Jade Gibson of the Thornton 4-H Horse and Pony Club; Katelyn Rose on South Simcoe 4-H Sheep Club; Caryn Upton on Cookstown/Beeton 4-H Beef Club and Nathan Schwartz on Cookstown 4- H Dairy Club and Mackenzie Thomas on Youth Adventure Camp.
