Library getting mini makeover
By Chris Simon

Innisfil Public Library Stroud branch librarian Jayne Asselstine stands beside one of the many bookshelves that will be moved to lay down a new carpet at the site between Dec. 7 to 15. During the renovation, the branch will be closed. However, residents can still visit the Lakeshore, Churchill and Cookstown library branches.
Stroud is losing a library for a few days.

The Innisfil Public Library's Stroud branch will be closed from Dec. 7 to 15, to replace carpeting in the adult and circulation sections. While the renovation is taking place, residents can visit the Lakeshore, Churchill and Cookstown branches to check out books and use other library resources. The Stroud branch's drop box will also be left open, said Stroud branch librarian Jayne Asselstine.

"The other branches will be open," she said. "This one will be closed. During that time, we'll be laying new carpet. That will entail moving all the shelving and books, which is why we're going to be closed."

Items that would normally have a due date that falls during the closure period must be returned by Dec. 18. All late fees directly caused by the closure will also be waived, said Asselstine.

"People will not be charged late fees if it's the result of the closure," she said. "People will not be penalized. We're telling people their items, if it falls within that closed time, are due back on the 18th."

The carpet is being funded through the town's capital budget.

"We've needed it for awhile," she said. "It's really worn in places and needs to be replaced."
