History of Cookstown book being planned Project Coordinator Donna Wice chaired a meeting at the Cookstown library on Wednesday November 21, to discuss the project of putting the history of Cookstown into a booklet. Facilitator at the meeting was Gail Lucas. Attending the meeting were Joan McLean, Brian Baker, Bill Draper, Jim Arnold, Jim Currie,Wally Smith Alan Dawson, Grace Cooper, Lois Wardlaw and myself. What's happened so far? The Innisfil Historical Society has agreed in the production and financial support of editing Joan McLean's material on all the properties of Cookstown. It started in April 2007 with editors Janet Panting, Bonnie Readman and Beverly Jones assisting with text and with photos for each property scanned by Bill Warnica. Where to go from here. Stories and anecdotes are needed. Suggestions include remembrances of stories told to you, personal observations, happenings around the village, people and events. It was stressed to us at the meeting to spread the word to all far and wide who want to contribute any of the above - the more the merrier. And when you write your piece, please do it in first person. There is a tentative timeline of Christmas 2008 set. The next meeting will be held on the third Wednesday in February. The Cookstown Chamber of Commerce will support and assist with promotion which may inlcude some financial support after review of 2008 budget. |
