Plowmen's group members feast at annual meeting On November 6, 2007 the Simcoe County Plowmen's Associaton held their annual meeting at the Newton Robinson hall. After welcome by president Brian Carr everyone enjoyed a delicious roasat beef dinner, catered by the Tec We Gwill W.I. Following the dinner, Alexndra Thomas, Simcoe County Queen of the Furrow for 2006-2007, gave a brief report of her enjoyable year. An election of officers was conducted by Doug Lambie: Past President - Brian Carr; president - Ken O'Brien; first vice - Don Priest; second vice - Lawrence Stephenson; OPA Director - Don Priest; secretary - Barry DeGeer; treasurer - Theresa Priest; Queen co-ordinator - Kathy Carr and Elizabeth Gilpin. At the I.P.M. held at Crosby in September, Simcoe County really shone in the plowing. Allan Lambie of Elmvale was grand champion horse plowman, while his father Jim was reserve sulky horse champion. Ken O'Brien of Midhurst was grand champion antique tractor plowman. Our congratulations to these competitors. The annual O.P.A. Convention will be held in Stratford in February 2008 and the I.P.M. will be held at Teeswater in Bruce County in September 2008. |
