Outdoor advertising policy approved by town council Innisfil council approved a new advertising policy for its outdoor signage, during a meeting last week. The signs, which are typically on display at local community centres, arenas and fire stations, help promote municipal and community event. The new policy will provide guidelines for the different types of messages that will be permitted on town signs. The policy is necessary, especially with the building of the new Innisfil Recreation Centre and Town Hall. Those facilities will have electronic scrolling signage, to allow for multiple messages to be posted at the same time, said town clerk Paul Landry in a report to council. "The purpose of the advertising policy is to provide a standard policy for advertising on outdoor town signs," he said. "The policy is intended to clarify who will be permitted to have advertisements placed on town signs and what content will and will not be permitted." A priority order for events and a two week limit on each posted message will be implemented as part of the policy, said Landry. "The policy will permit the (municipality) and community groups to place advertisements on outdoor town signs and communicate with the widest possible audience," he said. "It is intended that every effort will be made to accommodate everyone. However, town needs and requirements will prevail." |
