Santa sets up mailbox in Essa library

There are several exciting events coming up at the Essa Public Library.

Santa's Mailbox: Once again, one of our most popular Christmas season events is Santa's Mailbox. It is available from Dec. 1 through Dec. 17.

Children can pick up special lists at both Essa Public Library branches, fill in their wishes to Santa, and return them to the Mailbox. Santa assures us that all letters returned by the 17th will receive a personal reply!

Christmas Cheer toy drive underway now: Thinking about Christmas shopping? Please remember that the Christmas Cheer Toy Drive is underway at the Angus and Thornton branches until Dec. 15. Donations of unwrapped new toys can be dropped into the donation boxes at each branch - your support is greatly appreciated.

Christmas gift idea - buy a bag and help us build a Library: Why not buy the book lover on your Christmas list one of our library book bags? You can add items, like a gift card to a local bookstore and a fancy bookmark and place it in the book bag. Sales from purchases of the book bags will help fundraise for the new Angus and Thornton branch additions, as both branches are selling Essa Public Library book bags. These canvas, high quality book bags are only $10. Please help support your library by purchasing one of these wonderful bags, for yourself or someone else, to carry library materials home in!

Join our online book club: Have you read a good book and want to share it with others? Are you looking for something to read and need recommendations? Want to see what others are saying about the latest bestsellers? We invite you to library's online book club forum, the newest place to talk about books.

Ontario Early Years story and craft sessions: Preschoolers and their parents/caregivers are invited to join the Ontario Early Years program facilitators at both the Angus and Thornton Branches for fun filled mornings with stories and crafts. You can pre-register or drop in. The Angus branch will host a session Dec. 12, while Thornton will host one Dec. 11. Times range between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. The session is free.

Free computer training available: We are offering the popular Community Access Program at the library branches.

If you are interested in learning how to use a computer or learn how to surf the internet, we are offering free one-on-one lessons. Call Lesley for Thursday sessions and Cathy for Saturday sessions. For more details or to reserve a lesson, call us at 424-6531.

Help the Library help the homebound: The library is looking for volunteers to help select and deliver materials to homebound borrowers. If you are interested, please contact Shaun at the Angus branch at 424-6531.
