RVH hosting expansion open house Curious about what the expanded Royal Victoria Hospital will look like? Wondering about what enhanced health services will be offered to you and your family? Want to know what construction work is already taking place at the hospital? Now is your chance to get an update on RVH's Phase 1 expansion project and take an early look at the impressive plans. The community is invited to an open house at RVH on Dec. 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., to learn more about the project, which is the largest capital project in the region's history and will double the hospital's size. Site preparation work for Phase 1 is well underway and construction of the temporary radiation suite is almost complete. "These are indeed exciting times for RVH and the community," said Janice Skot, RVH President and CEO. "This project is going to transform health care in our region. It will add desperately needed inpatient beds, and bring cancer care closer to home with the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. We want to take the opportunity to share the expansion plans with the community, as well answer any questions." The informal discussion will be led by members of the RVH administration, expansion project architects and two leading radiation experts from the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Members of the public are invited to the community update session where they will be able to see the expansion renderings, see how construction will proceed and learn how health care for the people of this region will be improved when the new hospital opens in 2011. There will be free parking and refreshments at the event. |
