OPP raises cash for United Way campaign

The United Way of Greater of Greater Simcoe County is delighted to announce that the hard-working volunteers of the Ontario Provincial Police raised $2,021 at their All- You-Can-Eat Pasta Dinner Nov. 23.

Madison County Food and Beverage donated all of the food for the fundraiser, as well as two staff members to assist during the dinner itself. Lakehead University and Georgian College provided a team of volunteers to wash dishes and serve the 300 guests, as they sat down to their dinner at OPP headquarters in Orillia.

Seija Suutari, the United Way branch's executive director, says the volunteers played a significant role in contributing to it annual fundraising campaign.

"This is a shining example among hundreds where groups of volunteers demonstrate their compassion to their community and kindness to its citizens by organizing an event to raise money for United Way," she said. "These funds will be part of the community fund, which will be distributed to help, the sick and elderly, the troubled teenager or to a single mother struggling to feed and clothe her children. Every amount of money raised will have a local impact."
