Lefroy church gets bazaar
By Chris Simon

Cherry Blossom Decor owner Tracy Stewart, left, and Innovative Sewing Solutions owner Misha MacCauley were among several vendors displaying their merchandise.
Lefroy United Church held its annual Christmas bazaar Saturday.

Several vendors packed the Grange Hall, while local residents viewed handmade quilts, purchased baked goods and ate soup and sandwiches in the church last weekend. From homemade preserves and Christmas decorations to tea towels and Innisfil Historical Society books, the event gives residents an opportunity to purchase unique presents for friends and family, said bazaar representative Edna Schram.

"Part of what makes us different is that we have a quilt show. None of the quilts are for sale, they're from all over," she said. "Basically, we serve lunch, have a bake table, a penny table and a silent auction.

"Our lunch is always pretty popular because we've got homemade soup and sandwiches, we're always quite busy."

Many of the items for sale are handmade, and cannot be purchased at large retail centres. It's part of what keeps luring customers to the annual sale, said Schram.

Volunteer Millie Kellough watches over several handmade quilts.
"Because they're all homemade, you find things that are different," she said. "There's a different variety of unique things. If you go stores, you find the same things in each store. You find things you wouldn't find anywhere else."
