Break-ins at church, theatre

      On Sunday evening, Dec. 9, someone broke into the Cookstown United Church, breaking down the door to the office, taking food out of the fridge and making mess in the kitchen. There was also a break-in at the South Simcoe Theatre. The culprits were apparently looking for money at the box offce.

Snow can't keep Santa away
     Despite the postponement of Innisfil's Santa Claus Parade, the Earl of Alcona hosted a brunch with the jolly old elf Sunday. Several families attended the brunch, and had the opportunity to listen to music, and take a picture with Santa.

Essa library hours change for the next few weeks
      The Essa Public Library has released its holiday schedule. The Angus and Thornton branches will open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 24.
