Over 200 calls to Crime Stoppers

During the month of November, Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin- Muskoka received 212 calls. These calls assisted the police in the clearance of 11 cases including robbery, possession of stolen property, narcotic offences, and other criminal code and provincial statute offences.

These investigations resulted in nine arrests, 39 charges and the seizure of $15,000 in illegal drugs.

Since Crime Stoppers began in 1987, they group has received over 39,600 calls, which have lead to nearly 3,200 arrests, about 5,100 cases cleared and almost $40.8 million in drugs seized. About $9.5 million in property has been recovered, and about $237,500 in awards have been handed out.

Callers to Crime Stoppers never have to identify themselves and if the case proves to be successful, they are eligible for a cash reward. Anyone with information about a crime that has occurred can call 1- 800-222-8477.
