Getting artsy at MacLaren

A girl paints a picture at the MacLaren Art Centre.
The MacLaren Art Centre is excited to offer the very popular Christmas Art Camp. This camp, which was a huge hit with parents and campers alike last year, offers creative fun for the children and flexibility for parents.

Register for four days or just one, the same rate of $30 per day applies.

For four days starting on Dec. 31 and ending Jan. 4, you can drop off your child knowing that he or she will have a fun day of making great art and new friends in a creative and safe environment. Two camps are offered for two age groups, six to nine years old and 10 to 13. Each of the classes have been specifically designed for the age group and is led by an experienced instructor.

Techniques include the more traditional art forms for the younger age group - painting, sculpting, drawing and printing led by local artist Julie Robb, while the older children work with Emma Barlow in producing their own art gallery using more contemporary art practices.

Camp hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with before and after care being offered, starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. The fee for this camp program is just $30 a day plus $5 for additional care. Parents can register their children either for the full four days or, for a more flexible schedule, register by the day. There is no camp on New Year's Day.

Registration is now open but class sizes are limited. For more information please visit www.maclarenart.com. To register, call or e-mail Melissa Robertson at 720- 1044 ext. 234 or melissa@maclarenart.com.
