MS volleyball tournament planned for July
      It is time to start gearing up for the Simcoe County MS Society's annual Leap of Faith Volleyball Tournament that will be held on Saturday July 19 at Centennial Beach in Barrie. The tournament is held to raise money and awareness for the MS Society, who supports numerous community members currently living with the disease.

An appetite for soccer
      Members of the Innisfil Stampeders under 13 girls soccer team were selling hot dogs, sausages, drinks and chocolate during a fundraiser outside the Sobeys grocery store in Alcona throughout the long weekend. The club hoped to raise $900 over the three day event.

Red Sox Midget team opens season with win
      The Barrie Red Sox Restored Sports Midgets opened their home 2008 season May 8th, with an exciting come from behind 3-2 victory over the Bolton Braves. RBI singles form Zach Scragg and Jordan Abram keyed the last inning victory in support of strong pitching by Donovan Latour.

Local kids learn hockey
      Thirty-four kids that otherwise would not be playing hockey this fall will now be playing. The reason they will be playing is that they attended the recent Let's Learn Hockey Program at the New Tecumseth Recreation Complex in Alliston.
