Noisy muffler leads to suspended driver's arrest

Just after midnight on June 3, a South Simcoe Police officer stopped a car on Holland Street West in Bradford for having a noisy muffler.

It was determined that the 44-year-old driver was under suspension but had not yet been notified by the Ministry of Transportation. The officer served the driver with a suspension notice and arrangements were made for a relative of the driver to attend and provide another driver for his vehicle.

The investigating officer was required to attend another call and upon returning to the area discovered that the suspended driver and his vehicle were gone. The vehicle description was broadcast to other police units and the vehicle was located just after 1:30 a.m. driving northbound on Highway 400, north of Innisfil Beach Road.

The vehicle was stopped and it was discovered that the driver was the same person who had just been served with the notice of suspension. The man was issued a summons for driving under suspension, with a date in Bradford court on July 18. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
