Skipping happily into the summer
      Wyatt Hamilton found the perfect way to skip into summer. Along with his sister, the 10-year-old visited the the Churchill branch of the Innisfil Public Library Thursday, on his first full day of summer vacation. And along with about 10 other kids, the siblings grabbed skipping ropes and worked up a sweat, all for some prizes.

Report dead bird sightings
      The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is asking the public to report sightings of dead birds as part of its West Nile virus (WNv) surveillance program. Crows, ravens and blue jays can be sent for testing, however all reports of dead birds are recorded and monitored.

Strutting their stuff
      There were bargains abound during the annual Sandycove Fashion Show and Sale recently. Thousands of articles of donated clothing, shoes, jewellery and home decor were available for local residents to purchase, while others were treated to a fashion show featuring a variety of casual, formal and fun wear. The evening also included a silent auction, door prizes and raffle.

A lifesaving defibrillator donation
      St. Paul's Anglican Church Rev. Debbie Palmer, right , and congregation members Mike Hogg and Queenie Little recently received a plaque from Simcoe County Paramedics, for completion of their Public Access Defibrillation program. In total, about 16 members of the congregation were trained for defibrillator usage.

      Steve Blanchet is the new chair of Royal Victoria Hospital's Board of Directors. Blanchet, president and co-owner of CSR Cosmetic Solutions was unanimously appointed by the board at RVH's recent annual general meeting.

      Artistic producer/founder Larissa Mair has officially unveiled the seventh season of Barrie 's Theatre by the Bay. "We are very excited with our stellar line up this year," said Mair. "Our main production is the hilarious and inspirational musical Glorious! by Peter Quilter.
