Man arrested for weapons offences
In the early morning hours of July 11, South Simcoe Police executed a search warrant at a Bradford apartment.
During the search, officers located a small amount of marijuana and two prohibited weapons. A 37-year-old Bradford man has been charged with possession of a controlled Substance, possession of a prohibited weapon (two counts), and breach of a weapons prohibition order (two counts). The man will appear in Bradford Provincial Court on Aug. 21.
Man turns himself in to police
On July 11, an 18-yearold man with no fixed address turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear.
He was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing on July 12.
Suspects break into golf course
Some time overnight July 10 to 11, unknown suspects broke into an Innisfil golf course by cutting a small hole in the wall.
Once inside, they appeared to be scared off by the alarm, as nothing was removed from the premises. Anyone with information on this occurrence is asked to call the police at 436-2141, or leave a tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
Threats land man in jail
Police have charged a 51- year-old Innisfil man with uttering threats following an domestic dispute on Saturday afternoon.
An investigation revealed that the man had threatened to kill his wife on an earlier occasion.
He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on July 13th.
Husband and wife arrested for hitting each other
A 42-year-old Bradford man and his 44-year-old wife have both been charged with assault following domestic dispute which occurred on Saturday afternoon.
Officers learned that the two had become involved in a heated argument, which escalated into each of them hitting the other. They were arrested at their Bradford residence, transported to the South Division station and later released on a promise to appear. They will both be appearing in Bradford court on Aug. 21st.
Greater Toronto Area residents charged after visit
Police have arrested a 61- year-old Mississauga man and a 30-year-old Toronto woman for breach of an undertaking after officers were called to an Innisfil residence on Saturday evening. During their investigation, the officers learned that the two were on a conditions not to associate with each other. They were both arrested and held for a bail hearing on July 13th.
First person arrested under new drug law
Police have charged their first person with drug impaired driving following the proclamation
of Bill C2 on July 2.
The Bill broadens police powers for detecting and investigating drug impaired driving. The Bill authorizes specially trained police officers, known as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) to conduct a series of tests to determine if a driver is impaired by drugs.
On July 13th, officers were conducting a RIDE program in Bond Head and stopped a 20-year-old Keswick man. The man displayed signs of impairment and was taken back to the South Division station for testing. As a result, he has been charged with drug impaired driving. He is scheduled to appear in Bradford court on Aug. 21st.
The police service currently has two fully qualified Drug Recognition Experts and three officers in the final stages of training.
Intoxicated man arrested for obstruction
On Thursday July 10, South Simcoe Police responded to a residence on Killarney Beach Road in Innisfil, after receiving a 911 hang-up call.
Upon arrival, officers were invited in by a woman, but an intoxicated man on the premises tried to prevent an officer from entering. Once the officer was in the residence, the man was confrontational and tried to impede his movement throughout the residence while doing a safety check. As a result, the 32-year-old Innisfil man was arrested and charged with obstructing police.
He was held in custody and released the following morning when sober.
Neighbours fend off feces
On Thursday July 10, police were called to an Innisfil residence for a report of a neighbour dispute.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant who advised that his neighbour had thrown feces at his grandmother and nephew, who had been sitting on his back deck. The feces missed them, but landed on his deck.
As a result, police charged a 39-year-old Innisfil woman with mischief. She was released and will appear in court in August.
