The new school year is a time for a fresh beginning, says Goodfellow Public School principal David Brownlee. As a principal for the last four years, Brownlee knows a bit about the nervous anticipation educational staff face, planning for the upcoming school year. More...

Innisfil taxpayers could be getting lit up for more cash to power streetlights, according to a report released by the town's hydro company. Innisfil Hydro says property taxes could be going up by about $387,000 — a 2.74 per cent increase — after the Ontario Energy Board ordered a revenue analysis on the town-owned company. More...

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is asking all clients who received tattooing or piercing services at the Adam and Eve Tattooing and Piercing in Innisfil between April 29 and Aug. 21 to call the health unit, as part of an investigation into potential exposure to non-sterile equipment. Federal freshwater strategy needed

Junior Rookie The Cardinals Junior Rookie 1 headed to Thornton on Aug. 18th, to face off against Ivy 2 in a rescheduled game. Both Innisfil Junior Rookie teams were looking forward to their year end tournament on Aug. 23 and 24 in Beaver Valley. More...
Liz Gordon has been around dogs for most of her life. Thus, the owner of Pet County Estates — which provides kennel, daycare, breeding and training services — knows the valuable role a canine can play in a person's life. That's especially true when that person has a disability, such as blindness. More...
Shady neighbours with late summer colour
Late summer is when a couple of my favourite shade plants come into their own. Cimicifuga racemosa, commonly called bugbane, is a wildflower native to the damp forests of eastern North America. It will grow slowly into a nice clump about 120 to 150 centimetres tall, and has very fragrant spikes of white bottlebrush flowers from August to October. More...
