Bringing Dr. Seuss to the Gibson Centre The Gibson Centre's Honda Performance Hall was crawling with all sorts of creatures last week during the drama program's final presentation of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, a story about the need to save the environment. The story began in the grickle grass at The Street of the Lifted Lorax, where barba loots, humming fish, swamee swans, truffula trees, and a young child told the story of how the truffula trees were wiped out by the greedy Once-ler, despite the warnings of a fuzzy orange environmentalist called the Lorax. A new round of drama courses will be running in 2009, taught by Theatre Orangeville Drama Outreach instructor Sarah Jane Ladd, for ages 11 to 15. A course for younger children ages six to 10 will be taught by local actress Chandra Mulder. The focus of the January courses will be theatre games and improvisation, and will end with a performance for family and friends. Call The Gibson Centre for more information and to register at 435-2828. |
