Thinking of others throughout the year
      It's easy to think of others at this time of the year. As residents shop for the perfect gift at retailers throughout the region in December, charities like the Salvation Army and Barrie Food Bank seem to make donating an easy task. There are boxes left in foyers at schools, and the familiar sight of volunteers ringing bells outside of shops.

Province and town teaming to protect Lake Simcoe
      The Lake Simcoe Protection Act became law on Dec. 10. This legislation requires that the province design a protection plan for the lake and surrounding watershed.

Development charge changes may be coming
      Innisfil council may be making several changes to its development charges bylaw. Last week, town council held a public meeting over proposed changes to the bylaw. Under the changes, the new commercial development charge rate would come into effect March 31, several months later than originally planned.
