Several vehicle collisions reported

Domestic argument leads to arrest

On Tuesday December 23rd, South Simcoe Police received a 911 call for assistance at a residence in Cookstown, regarding a domestic argument. Investigating officers arrested a 45-year-old Cookstown woman for

domestic mischief and breaching conditions.

The accused was transported to a police station and held in custody pending a bail hearing Dec. 24th.

False name can't save woman from arrest

On Friday December 26, police attended an Innisfil residence after receiving information that a woman wanted by the Midland Police Service for breach of probation was residing there. Officers located the woman, a 29-year-old Innisfil resident, who initially tried to provide the officers with a false name. She was arrested and turned over to the Midland Police.

Licence suspension issued

On Dec. 26, police approached a suspicious dark blue Toyota that was parked and running in the parking lot of a business on Holland Street West in Bradford.

The officer located a lone driver who had been consuming alcohol. As a result of an investigation, the driver, a 46-year-old Bradford man, was issued a 12-hour licence suspension.

Snow machine strikes car

On Dec. 26, police were called to a collision between an automobile and snow machine on Innisfil Beach Road.

An investigation revealed that an Arctic Cat snow machine collided with a Honda Accord in the parking lot of a plaza on Innisfil Beach Road.

Both vehicles were damaged, but no one was injured. No charges were laid.

Two car collision reported

On Dec. 24, police were called to a motor vehicle collision on the 25th Sideroad at the 9th Line of Innisfil.

A 24-year-old Barrie man was driving eastbound on the 9th and failed to stop at the 25th, where he was struck by a southbound vehicle being driven by a 46-year-old Innisfil man. No injuries were received as a result of the accident and the 24-year-old was charged with careless driving.

Vehicle towed from ditch

On Dec. 25, police attended Innisfil Beach Road west of Yonge Street, after receiving a report of a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a vehicle being driven eastbound on Innisfil Beach Road had lost traction and slid sideways. The vehicle then went off the roadway, where it struck two wooden guard rail posts. The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Innisfil man, did not sustain an injury. He was able to drive the vehicle after it was towed from the ditch.

The crash was due to extremely icy road conditions.

Woman caught driving

at an excessive speed

On Dec. 25, a police officer was travelling north on Highway 400 at the 11th Line of Bradford West Gwillimbury, when he observed a BMW approaching from behind at a very high rate of speed.

The vehicle was travelling over 160 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone.

The BMW drove past the officer, who followed and observed it being driving erratically.

The BMW made numerous lane changes, and weaved through traffic.

The vehicle was stopped north of Highway 89 and the officer spoke to the driver, a 30-year-old Thornhill woman. She was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and was issued a summons for the offenses of racing, stunt driving and speeding.

Drunk man breaches probation

On Wednesday December 24, police responded to a 911 call at a residence on Leonard Street in Innisfil, regarding a domestic disturbance.

Police arrived at the residence and could hear a man yelling inside, but he refused to answer the door. Police were attempting to gain access to the residence to check on the well being of other occupants when the intoxicated man allowed police access.

The man was on probation with strict conditions to abstain from the consumption and possession of alcohol. A 45- year-old Innisfil man has been charged with breach of probation, and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Civic stolen from laneway

An Alcona resident reported that unknown persons stole their car from the laneway at their residence on Gina Street in Innisfil sometime after 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 27.

The vehicle's licence plate number is ATFM 523.

It is described as a twodoor 2004 Honda Civic, silver in colour.

Flooding forces road closure

Several South Innisfil roads were closed due to flooding during the weekend.

Ewart and Arnold Streets and Maple Road near the 5th Line were closed.

Man leaves store without paying for groceries

On Saturday December 13th, South Simcoe Police received a call from the owner of the No Frills on Barry Street in Bradford, advising a customer alerted him about a man who just left the building with a full cart of groceries that had not been paid for. The owner observed the man at his vehicle, but the vehicle was already loaded with the stolen groceries.

A licence plate was obtained and the vehicle came back registered to a woman living in Newmarket. Police are continuing the investigation. The vehicle is described as a grey Pontiac Sunfire, four door.

The vehicle was also involved in a fail to remain collision, when leaving the parking lot. Anyone who witnessed this theft or collision are asked to call police.
