Town staff honoured
Her colleagues say she's a breath of fresh air, sweet, and constantly smiling. Spence has worked for the Innisfil Public Library for the last 25 years, and continues to show passion and enthusiasm for the job. "It really doesn't feel like a long time," she said. "It has been a great learning experience and wonderful. We do have a great time, and I think that's half the battle." Last week, Spence and 11 others were recognized by Innisfil council for their long-term service to the municipality. Customer service employee Heather Sherk received an award for five years of service. Volunteer firefighter Art Enwright, water services' Karl Mercer, IT services' Grant Cowan and road services' Ken Stoutenburg received recognition for 10 years of service. Volunteer firefighter Ken Bodrug, executive assistant Linda Sjerps and road services' Elly Delorme were each recognized for 15 years of service. Volunteer firefighter Dave Kilpatrick, water services' Darrell Parry and road services' Tom Posie were also recognized for 20 years of service. Councillor Rod Boynton says many municipal services, like the library and fire service, require dedication and hard work to function. And each of the people, including Spence, honoured demonstrate those characteristics, he said. "Twenty-five years speaks for itself," he said. "This library is second to none in this province, and (she's) one of the reasons why." |
