Valentine dance tickets for sale

Tickets are on sale for the Thornton Area Action Committee's annual Valentine Dance. It will be held at the Thornton Community Centre starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 per person and include a lunch served at 11 p.m. DJ Keep Them Dancing will provide the music and there will be door and spot dance prizes.

Bring your Sweetheart and some friends and enjoy the evening dancing the night away.

The next storytime sessions at the library are about to begin. You can choose from either Monday or Tuesday starting on Jan. 21 or 22 and they continue for the following three weeks. Storytime is suitable for children ages three to five and costs just $2 per child.

The fun starts at 10 a.m. and continues to 11 a.m. with stories, crafts, games and more. Please preregister with the fee at the library. For more information, call 458-2549.

The Irish Club is holding a fundraiser to support the dialysis clinic at Royal Victoria Hospital. The event will be held on Sunday January 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Army, Navy, Air Force Club on George Street in Barrie. The cost is $15 per person and children are just $2. There will be a variety of non-stop entertain ers sure to please everyone. Last year's event was standing room only. For more information or for tickets call Reg at 722-3644 or Angie at 456-1595.

Cyberbullying is becoming a major concern for parents and caregivers everywhere.

A special presentation on internet safety will be presented by OPP Sergeant Robyn MacEachern on Thursday January 31 starting at 7 p.m. at the Angus Recreation Centre Gymnasium.

Everyone is welcome to come and learn how to keep your children safe while on the internet.

The next Essa Historical Society meeting will be held on Saturday January 28 starting at 1:30 p.m. at the community room in the Thornton library. The agenda has changed for the meeting and the annual reports will be presented along with show and tell for roll call. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call 458-9971.
