Robbie Burns dinner explanation Robbie Burns dinner: We have had a few strange questions asked about our dinner, so maybe I can enlighten everyone. Our haggis is made from an old Scottish receipt of Maggie's mom, and it does not contain all the ingredients people have heard about. I am not Scottish but I think it is great. Haggis is just one of the many servings we are offering and like everything else you are not obliged to eat it. The main course includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, mashed turnips, green peas, garden salad, homemade desserts and fresh rolls. We will be offering hors d'oeuvres and cocktails starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday January 26. Our pipe band will be in attendance and the haggis will be piped into the hall. After a concert from our pipe band, we will be entertained by our very own DJ, Bill Van Berkel. Karaoke will be available for the singers in the crowd. Tickets are available from Joyce at 431-9231, for a cost of $20. Call her soon as this is always a very popular event. Watch for flyers in the Lefroy Post Office and local businesses. Ralph A. Crum, a long time member and past vice president of Branch 547 passed away Jan. 1. We will be holding a legion remembrance service in his memory Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., in the branch. All his friends are welcome to attend. A light lunch provided by our Ladies Auxiliary will follow the service. Membership is due by the end of January, this is a must, if you want to keep active in the branch. |
