Fifth Line still months away from completion

It will be May or June before the fifth line near Nicolston in Essa township will be completed.

Greg Murphy, Essa's Manager of Public Works, said that work on the new bridge was focusing on the construction of the new abutments.

"We have completed work on one abutment and work is expected to begin on the second abutment," he said.

The township began work on replacing the bridge last fall. The steel bridge had been in place for over 50 years. Major reconstruction work has also been undertaken on the fifth concession to the north and south of the bridge.
