Highway pile-ups claim 100 cars Nearly 100 vehicles were involved in a series of pile-ups on Highway 400 Sunday afternoon. Ontario Provincial Police officers closed the north and south lanes of Highway 400 between highways 88 and 89 about 1 p.m. A snowsquall caused near whiteout conditions along the 400, leading to the pile-ups. No one died in the crash, however several people were injured. The northbound lanes of the highway were closed between King Road and Highway 89, while the southbound lanes were closed from 88 to 89. The largest pile-up occurred between the 8th and 9th Lines of Bradford West Gwillimbury. The highway was closed until late Sunday evening. Emergency service vehicles were called from several municipalities throughout the region. |
