A banner gift
      Thornton Minor Hockey presented a banner to WO John Yoshida and MCpl. Bill Donald with all the signatures of its players, board members and team officials. Both soldiers are heading off to Afganistan next month and will be taking the banner with them.

Snowmobiler goes through ice
      South Simcoe Police were called to the 30th Sideroad and Tijou Woods area near Big Bay Point Thursday at about 12:30 p.m., after a man broke through thin ice while operating his snowmobile. The snowmobile sunk in Lake Simcoe in about 20- feet of water, about 100 metres from shore.

Atom team pulls off upset
      Icebreakers Atom 1 Lefroy Atom 1 pulled off an amazing game Thursday night with a 3-3 tie. At the end of the first period the score was 3-0 for Lefroy 3. In the second period, Austin Lacey started the scoring with assists from Chris Bergstrom and Ray Challoner.
