Pump station gets new generator Town council awarded the contract for the installation of a $49,972 replacement generator to the Selectra company. The current tank has been deemed a potential risk to the area's water supply. It provides emergency stand-by power to the station and the town's communications tower, said community services director George Shaparew. "The existing unit is approximately 30 years old and has been identified by maintenance staff as requiring replacement or slated for major repairs," he said. "Some parts may be obsolete and un-available if repairs are undertaken. The generator could be out of service for an extended period of time during unforeseen emergencies. "A reliable stand-by power supply for Churchill, fire hydrant system and also the town wide Communications system should be maintained." |
